AFA Immersion (21st -31st March, 2009)

Brothers in Matawe

Brothers in Ibona
This year our AFA
Immersion ended up in the picturesque slops of Matawe and Ibona in Aurora Province, Philippines. It was a ten day program during which Brothers stayed with the simple and economically poor families.
Brothers were divided into two groups. One group stayed in Matawe and the others in Ibona, two small Barangays (villages). The purpose of the immersion experience was to share the life of ordinary Philippine families. Brothers were involved in the daily works of families including farm work, fishing and house work. There were also times when Brothers got involved in the community life of the people through Bible sharing, repairing and cleaning the chapels and through bonding. It was a life-giving as well as challenging experience to making unknown known and strangers our own.
